Job Title: Mechanical Engineer I (Test Services Engineer)

FLSA Status: Exempt

Pay Rate: $67,600 – $98,200

Reports to: Director of Test and Analysis Services Division

Location: Onsite

KULR Technology Location: Webster, TX 

Travel: Up to 10% travel to support testing, conferences, and customer engagement activities.

Position Overview: 

KULR Technology Corporation provides a comprehensive suite of lithium-ion single cell, pack-level, and integrated battery testing services focused on battery safety, performance, and longevity. KULR continues to expand its testing portfolio, which includes cell-level calorimetry and thermal runaway abuse testing, cell aging and performance studies, impingement zone mapping (IZM) studies, Multiphysics modeling and thermal analysis.

As a Test Services Engineer, you will work cross-functionally with our world-class team to develop and execute tests for existing product designs and provide testing services to address customer needs. The Test Services Engineer will become fully immersed in our process which involves the development of testing procedures for rigorous testing and analysis activities that enhance design and understanding for KULR and our customers.

Functions: 

  • Develop destructive and performance-based test procedures for materials, components, and assembled systems to validate design requirements.
  • Assist with destructive and performance-based test programs for both internal and customer-provided materials, components, and assembled systems.
  • Data Processing: Collect, organize, and process engineering data from various sources, including simulations, tests, and experiments. Develop data analysis pipelines and use statistical methods to draw meaningful insights and conclusions.
  • Aid in design and assembly of KULR’s innovative testbeds and testing apparatuses. 
  • Ensure the quality of KULR’s testing facilities by performing critical maintenance activities.
  • Cross-training as mutually agreed upon by the engineer and their supervisor to further support business needs.  
  • Designs, develops, prototypes, and tests all aspects of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery. 
  • Develops specifications for new parts or prototypes. 
  • Identifies appropriate materials and processes to ensure the quality, performance, and manufacturability of products. 
  • Uses CAD software and other design and modeling tools to develop and improve parts and products. 
  • Conducts analysis and tests to determine weaknesses and failures in prototypes or products. 
  • Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education & Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field, required or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Demonstrated experience in data processing, analysis, and visualization, preferably in an engineering context.
  • Minimum of 6-12 months’ experience in hands-on assembly and/or testing activities. Relevant internship experience can count towards this requirement.
  • Preferred:
    • Prior experience working with battery systems, BMS, and electrical systems would be preferred, but is not required.
    • Prior experience developing technical engineering documentation such as system requirements, test plans, test procedures, or formal technical reports would be preferred, but is not required.
    • Science, technology or math background preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Familiarity with engineering software, such as Computer Assisted Design (CAD), Finite Elemental Analysis (FEA), or Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) tools.
