Production Planner

SUMMARY

The Production Planner will work cross functionally to ensure on-time delivery of product lines by coordinating the activities of Production, Engineering and Purchasing toward the common goal of on-time product delivery and to verify that all needed information and materials are available prior to releasing the order for manufacturing. The Production Planner will assist the Production Manager and Director of Supply Chain in continual process improvement and waste elimination initiatives and improved on-time deliverables.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plans, schedules, coordinates and/or monitors products through the complete production cycle of mature production program units to meet requirements
  • Advises operations of the status of work in progress & risks to meeting internal master schedule
  • Effective collaboration and coordination with manufacturing assemblers/technicians, material management, product line managers, manufacturing engineers and quality are critical to the role
  • Ensures availability of materials and labor to meet production requirements and delivery commitments
  • Works to resolve labor and material shortages, backlogs and other potential schedule interruptions

  • Releases work orders to production floor based on internal master schedule, part availability and current capacity
  • Monitors manufacturing conformance to master schedule using Control systems and reports
  • Expedites needed make items based on master schedule
  • Directly oversees operational measures including but not limited to efficiency, floor inventory accuracy, release on time and on time delivery
  • Reports variances and action plans to address
  • Manages and controls manufacturing floor stock for assigned programs
  • Advises management of the status of work in progress, material availability, and potential production problems to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials, and services are provided as needed

  • May provide guidance and assistance to support level employees
  • Must be able to communicate clearly (written and verbal) to technical and non-technical internal customers

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS       

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience or 2 years post-Secondary/ Associates Degree and a minimum of 6 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2 years of prior related experience
  • Microsoft Office Experience, including Visio and Excel (e.g., Excel formulas, V-lookups, pivot tables) and preparing tables, graphs, and charts.  ERP/Oracle NetSuite experience preferred.
  • Strong results and goal/deadline-oriented work ethic, high attention to detail and be flexible
  • Organizational skills, with the ability to develop and bring to completion multiple assignments concurrently
  • Project Management and/or Engineering experience preferred.
