POSITION SUMMARY

The Operator is primarily responsible for supporting the company in operating automation and production equipment. Incumbent will combine manual dexterity, attention to detail, and use of instructions to operate equipment. Incumbent must be able to use a variety of machine and lab equipment in carrying out responsibilities. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Setup machinery for operation
  • Operate machinery and equipment according to instructions
  • Monitor and document machine performance and report problems to supervisor
  • Feed raw materials into semi-automated machines and remove processed product
  • Fix minor machine faults (clear jams, remove debris, etc.)
  • Regularly clean machine and maintain cleanliness in work area
  • Work with quality to manually inspect product after processing through the automation line
  • Other duties as assigned 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 1-3 years of relevant experience
  • High School Diploma
  • Desirable experience includes experience working with ERP systems, working in an ISO9000 (or similar) manufacturing operation, and Associates degree in relevant field

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Willingness to work in shifts (late or early hours, weekends, and overtime if necessary)
  • Experience with chemical handling and the ability to work in lab environment and around systems which have high pressure, high voltage, and other such hazards
  • Understanding of production processes and best practices
  • Organizational and recordkeeping skills
  • Possess knowledge of computer operations and application pertinent to the field required, including MS Word and Excel

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

REGION AND REPORTING

  • This is an onsite position located in the Kearny Mesa area of San Diego
  • Standard schedule for this position is Monday- Friday day shift- overtime, weekends, and holidays may be expected from time-to-time. 
  • This position reports to the Production Supervisor
